We invited students from HTBLuVA Salzburg and FH Salzburg to experience the IT working world live

SBS c'IT@work Event 2019

Event Review

On October 22 and 23, 2019, together with our partners Wüstenrot Datenservice and Raiffeisenverband Salzburg, we once again hosted the experience event "c'IT@work" at Techno-Z Salzburg. Over 200 students from HTL and FH Salzburg accepted our invitation.

The program was varied and offered interested visitors exciting insights into the IT working world at Salzburger Banken Software (SBS), Wüstenrot Datenservice (WDS), and Raiffeisenverband Salzburg (RVS). A prize draw added extra

excitement, offering the chance to win a trial day with one of the host organizations. Since so much experience makes you hungry, everyone was treated to a healthy snack from Maria's Biotreff in Mondsee at the end.

Program

Under the title "The Technology Behind an ATM", visitors at the SBS experience station had the chance to follow the path of banknotes by looking inside the device. Students could also try out NFC technology live at the ATM with a cash deposit and withdrawal.

WDS talked about current innovations and new technologies, as well as the recently completed "TechRadar" project carried out by their interns. Visitors learned how innovations are driven forward and implemented within the company.

"If you want to be agile, you need fast testing" was the motto of the RVS experience station. Here, demonstrations on test automation were shown, and students were introduced to the latest testing methods.

Agility and its importance in software development were experienced hands-on through play at the "Agile Challenge". The goal was to implement a "customer order" as a team in three iterations of 2 minutes each, as effectively as possible.

The focus here wasn't just on the outcome, but rather on planning the implementation as a team, carrying it out, and improving the result through feedback loops, re-planning the approach, and repeated execution.

At the end of the event, IT executives also went "live", answering participants' questions in a word-rap session.

RTS Coverage

A special insight into the event is offered by the short TV report from Regional TV Salzburg. The c'IT@work Event 2019 was followed by RTS on the first day of the event and featured in a short segment on RTS. Alongside footage from the individual experience stations, the report also includes short interviews with students from HTL Salzburg, c'IT colleagues, and managing directors in attendance.

Thank You for Taking Part!

It was two eventful and exciting days. We thank all HTL students and FH students for taking part in the c'IT@work Event 2019, for their keen interest and the friendly conversations. We're already looking forward to next time!
